INDIANAPOLIS — Notre Dame recruiting coordinator Mike Elston already holds a pledge from one linebacker at Indianapolis Cathedral, now he has got his eyes on a second. Elston was at Cathedral earlier this week to check up on four-star linebacker and Notre Dame commit Pete Werner when he stumbled across 2018 linebacker Hugh Davis.

Davis — who is unranked at the time — isn’t pegged as one of the top prospects in the state for the next recruiting cycle, but that could soon change. He said that he had a conversation with Elston on Tuesday after his work out and the coach told him that he has potential to play at the next level.

“[I talked with Coach Elston] on the phone and he said that he wants to get me and my family on campus soon,” Davis said.

“Notre Dame is a great school,” he added. “It’s a dream school and [an offer] from them would automatically put them right at the top.”

Davis holds early bids from Indiana and Central Michigan. He has already taken multiple visits to Illinois and has started to hear from the likes of Michigan State and Penn State.

While he doesn’t have a set date to visit Notre Dame, he says that the plan is to get on campus sometime in June.

The 6-1, 210-pound Davis took over a starting role for Cathedral midway through last season. His brother Max graduated from Cathedral and currently plays indoor football in Texas.
