The nation’s top-ranked defensive end created quite the buzz late Wednesday.

Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy five-star defensive end Josh Kaindoh released a top four on Twitter of Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan. The news came just five days after Kaindoh was in South Bend for an unofficial visit.

While Kaindoh, who is pegged as the nation’s No. 4 overall prospect, was expected to make some cuts, his short list of schools had one notable omission. Maryland, a program which has been rumored as the favorite to land Kaindoh the past few weeks, was nowhere to be found. That in turn could spell good news for the Irish, who rolled out the red carpet for Kaindoh this past weekend while he was on campus for the Blue-Gold Game.

The 6-5, 241-pound Kaindoh also holds offers from Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Oregon, Florida State and USC, among others. The Baltimore native was at Maryland March 28 for a visit and saw Penn State the following day. He took a trip to Michigan in late November and was at Ohio State last June.
