Notre Dame's huge recruiting weekend has kicked off with a commitment and it came from prospect that's not even set to be campus.

Naperville (Ill.) Neuqua Valley four-star athlete Isaiah Robertson gave a verbal pledge to the Irish on Friday after talking things over with head coach Brian Kelly.

Robertson, who is ranked by Rivals.com as the nation's No. 163 overall prospect, is listed as a wide receiver, but he projects as a safety at the next level.

"I have a good opportunity in front of me," Robertson said two weeks ago when he landed an offer from the Irish during an unofficial visit.

"When I say opportunity I'm not even talking about football," he added. "[I'm] mainly talking about academics, character building, connections, and just the kind of man I would be when my 4 years are up at Notre Dame."

Robertson picked Notre Dame over his other five finalists: Illinois, Iowa, Penn State, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin. He also held offers from Minnesota, Iowa State, Maryland, Syracuse and Indiana.

"There is a lot of promise and opportunity at Notre Dame," he said.

The 6-2, 185-pound Robertson becomes commit No. 10 in the class for the Irish and gives Notre Dame the No. 4 ranked recruiting class per Rivals.com right ahead of Clemson, Alabama and Michigan.
