Four-Star End Gets First Look At Notre Dame, Plans To Return

Olney (Md.) Good Counsel four-star defensive end Joshua Paschal's first trip to Notre Dame was a productive one.

The nation's No. 10 ranked strongside defensive end arrived in town on Tuesday with his father and stayed through Wednesday. He got a chance to not only meet with Irish defensive line coach Keith Gilmore but also watch Notre Dame go through an offseason workout.

"My first visit was great," Pashal said. "The tradition there is amazing and the focus on academics and also football is special. We took a tour of the school and the campus was beautiful. It has some similarities of the school I'm at now."

Paschal, whose brother TraVaughn played at Kentucky and had a brief stint in the NFL with the Ravens, attends Good Counsel High outside of Baltimore, which is the same school that produced current Notre Dame center Sam Mustipher. Paschal said he had a chance to eat dinner with Mustipher on Tuesday before sitting down with Gilmore on Wednesday.

"Coach Gilmore is a really good defensive line coach and he seems like a very humble person," Paschal said.

Paschal also holds offers from Ohio State, Clemson, Oklahoma, Maryland, Missouri, Kentucky, Iowa, West Virginia and Rutgers. He camped at North Carolina earlier this summer, but says that he has no other set visits planned besides an official visit to Notre Dame at some point during the season.

The 6-4, 255-pound Paschal totaled 40 tackles and a pair of sacks this past season at Good Counsel. He will compete at The Opening in early July after impressing at a regional back in April.
