Two of Notre Dame’s top targets in the secondary will be in South Bend on Friday.

Detroit King four-star cornerback Ambry Thomas and Detroit Cass Tech three-star safety Jaylen Kelly-Powell are both expected to stop by Notre Dame on their way to The Opening Chicago with a handful of Cass Tech underclassmen.

Thomas, who is ranked by Rivals.com as the nation’s No. 16 cornerback, was offered by the Irish back in November, but he was spotted this past weekend at the The Opening Columbus wearing a Pitt jacket and lists the Panthers along with Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State as early favorites.

Kelly-Powell on the other hand says he doesn’t have any leaders, but the Irish are believed to be in his top group of schools along with Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Stanford and UCLA. The 4.0 student, who is listed as the No. 24 safety in the class, told Blue & Gold Illustrated last weekend that he likes Notre Dame defensive backs coach Todd Lyght ($) and that’s one of the reason why he wants to get back on campus after visiting for the Blue-Gold Game in March. It should also be noted that Kelly-Powell’s father will be visiting Notre Dame for the first time when the group rolls through campus on Friday.

The 5-11, 175-pound Thomas is ranked as the No. 2 prospect in Michigan. The 6-0, 180-pound Kelly-Powell is pegged as the No. 10 recruit in the state. Thomas ran a 4.48 in the 40-yard dash at The Opening Columbus.
