Notre Dame Sends Out Pot Of Gold To Top Recruits

Call it a tradition.

Notre Dame’s annual “#PotOfGold” campaign has started to hit the mailboxes of top recruits around the country in advance of National Signing Day Feb. 3.

Longtime Notre Dame four-star cornerback commit Julian Love tweeted out a photo of the package that he received on Saturday, which included a number of faux scratch-off lottery tickets and a personalized message. Cleveland St. Ignatius four-star offensive tackle Liam Eichenberg did the same.

“I think that it really shows that they care,” Love said. “I was one of the first guys in the class to commit and it just shows that I’m still a priority for them.”

Love said that the scratch-off lottery tickets in his Pot of Gold revealed a photo from his official visit and a message that said he had won a scholarship to Notre Dame.

“It was cool just reading the different things,” the LaGragne Park (Ill.) Nazareth Academy product said. “I’m sure all the commits will like it.”

In 2013, the Irish sent recruits like Nyles Morgan 477 — individual — pieces of mail to represent the program’s number of NFL Draft picks at the time. The package last winter included 244 gold coins with 11 different recruiting pitches on them.
