Adams, Folston Make Doak Walker Award Watch List

Notre Dame is expected to have a potent rushing attack this season, returning a couple of skilled running backs.

Thursday, that fact was acknowledged on a national level.

Sophomore Josh Adams and senior Tarean Folston were both named to the Doak Walker Award watch list, an honor that goes to the nation’s top running back.

The 6-foot-1, 219-pound Adams is looking to build off a big freshman year in which he ran for a Notre Dame freshman record 835 yards, breaking the mark set by his position coach, Autry Denson.

Folston (5-9, 214 pounds), meanwhile, is hoping to return to form after tallying 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns his first two years at Notre Dame before his 2015 season was cut short three carries and 19 yards with a torn ACL against Texas in the opener.

That duo — along with talented sophomore Dexter Williams — has the Irish hopeful it can replace the production 1,000-yard rusher C.J. Prosise had last season.
