Kelly Named To Dodd Trophy Watch List

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly was named to the Dodd Trophy watch list, an award given to the country's best college football coach.

According to the award's website, the Dodd Trophy "celebrates the head coach of a team who enjoys success on the gridiron, while also stressing the importance of scholarship, leadership and integrity – the three pillars of legendary coach Bobby Dodd’s philosophy."

Twenty-four coaches made the watch list. Last year's winner was Iowa's Kirk Ferentz.

The seventh-year Notre Dame coach led the Irish to a 10-3 record last season. He is 55-23 during his tenure, and the Irish are a darkhorse title contender this year.

Watch lists for the award will be amended as the season progresses. The winner of the 2016 Dodd Trophy will be announced in Atlanta during the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
