Florida State, Florida, Pittsburgh, Penn State and Baylor are all schools who are trying to convince Notre Dame 2017 defensive tackle commit Kurt Hinish to waiver on his commitment to the Irish and change his mind.

Their efforts, however, are not working on the Pittsburgh (Pa.) Central Catholic product.

“A few schools have been trying to talk to me,” Hinish said. “I tell them I'm committed and I haven't talked to them since."

Hinish knows he has found the school for him. He said he is 100 percent committed to Notre Dame.

“Notre Dame is home,” Hinish said. “Notre Dame is a fantastic place with fantastic academics and athletics.”

Hinish is in contact with defensive line coach Keith Gilmore every month. He said he and his lead recruiter, Mike Elston, have a good relationship.

Hinish said he didn’t take any visits to any schools this summer and that won’t change this fall with the exception of returning to Notre Dame at some point.

With recruiting basically out of the way, Hinish is focusing on improving as a player and his final year at Central Catholic.

“I have practice in the morning and then I go running in the evening,” Hinish said. “[My expectations are] have a great season and just take things one step at a time.”

Hinish said he is not active on the recruiting trail for the Irish and is letting things happen the way they do.

The three-star is ranked as the 36th defensive tackle in the class. He picked Notre Dame over offers from Tennessee, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Ole Miss, Baylor Nebraska, North Carolina and several others.
